Deutsches Sprachzertifikat für den Beruf (DSZ-B)
Prove your workplace German in 45 minutes.
Forty multiple-choice questions on the German people actually use at work — emails, meetings, reports, negotiations. You finish with a score, a CEFR level from A1 to C2, and a certificate you can put in front of an employer the same hour.Forty multiple-choice questions, a CEFR level from A1 to C2, and a certificate the moment you finish.
About this test
The test measures how you handle German at work — the wording that decides whether a request sounds reasonable, an email lands, or a report is understood the way you meant it.
What’s assessed
Forty questions, drawn from four areas and set in ordinary workplace situations.
- Business vocabularyVerträge, Budgets, Fristen, feste Wendungen
- Grammar and structureCases, verb position, passive, conditionals
- Reading comprehensionEmails, reports, and what was implied rather than said
- Workplace communicationRegister, Konjunktiv, tone in meetings and negotiation
Your answers produce a DSZ-B score out of 100 and the CEFR level that goes with it, from A1 to C2. The test covers the whole scale, so you never have to pick a level before you start — the result is what tells you where you stand.
Why this matters
A1–C2
the six levels of the Common European Framework, defined by the Council of Europe and used as the reference for language ability worldwide — which is what makes your result readable to an employer who has never heard of any particular test.

Everything happens online, whenever suits you: no appointment, no test centre, no application. You buy the test, sign in, and start.
The forty questions are multiple choice and entirely text-based. There is no listening or speaking section, so you need neither a microphone nor speakers — it runs in a browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone, and a stable connection is the only requirement.
There is no time limit. Most people finish in about 45 minutes, and you can move back through the questions and change any answer before you submit.
The moment you submit, you get your DSZ-B score, the CEFR level it corresponds to, and a personal certificate as a downloadable PDF. Every certificate carries a unique ID that an employer, a recruiter or an admissions office can check on our verification page.
Your access does not expire and retakes cost nothing, so you can sit the test again months later to show that your level has moved on.
